THE ROMANS PROJECT

EQUIPPING PASTORS AROUND THE WORLD.

MISSION AND VISION

Our Mission

Our mission is to equip under-served pastors to abide in and feed their congregations from God's Word.

Our Vision

Faithful, fruitful churches led by pastors anchored in the truth of Scripture and the hope Jesus gives.

Our Approach

We do this by challenging pastors to read the book of Romans twenty times and write it out once; upon completion, they are awarded the graduation gift of a device filled with exegetical preaching.

Over the years, this challenge has transformed the lives and ministries of thousands of pastors and through them their congregations.

WHY ROMANS?

Romans has one of the clearest explanations of the Gospel in the New Testament. Paul wrote this letter to the church in Rome to help them understand the cross of Christ as both God’s righteousness in judging sin as well as His saving mercy towards us. Understanding this message is crucial to the health of every Christian; this is why we encourage pastors to begin their studies here. As they establish their understanding of the Gospel, their walk with God is enriched and their preaching is strengthened.

The purpose and blessing of abiding in Scripture

as told by Luther and Surgeon

"This Epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel, and is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. It can never be read or pondered too much, and the more it is dealt with the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes."

-Martin Luther, “Preface to the Epistle to the Romans” (1522), in Works of Martin Luther (1932), Vol. VI, p. 447.

"He who lives without prayer, he who lives with little prayer, he who seldom reads the Word, and he who seldom looks up to heaven for a fresh influence from on high - he will be the man whose heart will become dry and barren. However, he who falls in secret on his God, who spends much time in holy retirement, who delights to meditate on the words of the Most High, and whose soul is given up to Christ - such a man must have an overflowing heart. As his heart is, such will his life be."

-Charles Spurgeon

THE CHALLENGE

READ

The pastors immerse themselves in God’s Word as they read the book of Romans 20 times.

WRITE

The writing out of the book of Romans is a valuable practice of abiding in God’s word.

LISTEN

After reading and writing the book of Romans, the pastors receive a device (Flash Drive player or SD card) filled with sermons on Romans and expository preaching from hundreds of other passages.

PROCLAIM

Now well-grounded in the teachings of Romans, the pastor is encouraged to proclaim the book to their congregation from beginning to end over the course of their own series of Romans sermons.

REPEAT

Once they complete this method with the book of Romans, we encourage pastors to repeat this method of reading, writing, listening, and proclaiming with other books in Scripture.

Think of the exponential impact on thousands of congregations whose leaders have immersed themselves so deeply into God's Word!

THE IMPACT

Thousands of pastors throughout Africa, Asia South Asia and South America are being equipped in their ministries as they complete the Romans Challenge.
We are encouraged by the testimonies pastors share with us of the way they have been impacted by the pattern of reading, writing, and listening through God's Word.

While there are too many testimonies to share all of them, we want to share these testimonies with you so you can join us in praising God for the work He is doing in the Global Church.

If you enjoy reading these testimonies, follow us on Facebook and Instagram. There we feature the most recent testimonies and updates from the “front lines” of the ministry.
